F. Owen Black, M.D.
Dr. Black (1938-2012), was an otologist who worked in the Portland Oregon area. He was a prolific writer concerning the inner ear, as well as a very active clinician. He was associated with Neurocom, Inc (a manufacturer of balance testing equipment), as well as with NASA.
In regards to his career, he is probably most remembered for his controversial surgical handling of perilymph fistula in the 1980s, as well as his publications regarding bilateral vestibular loss.
