DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENTDiagnostic servicesCDB is a "full service" integrated dizziness clinic, and we have three types of expert providers -- physicians, audiologists, and physical therapists. We diagnose dizziness due to ear problems, brain (neurological) problems, blood pressure fluctuations, and many other causes. Most of our patients have already seen several other doctors and come to us to get things sorted out or for a more sophisticated treatment protocol than is commonly available. Nearly all of the diagnostic testing is accomplished at the clinic (except for MRI or CT scans). The most common conditions that we diagnose at CDH are:
We also see a lower but still very substantial volume of general neurology problems such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and stroke. Details of the diagnostic procedures that we offer is found here. TreatmentWe treat the conditions that we diagnose. Physician providers, two board-certified neurologists, provide medical management including drug treatment, and referrals to surgeons should surgery be thought advisable.
Examples of our treatment protocols are shown as flowcharts here:
We offer a full line of hearing aids, including both a "bundled" full service option as well as an "unbundled", lower cost option. For tinnitus, (see Tinnitus algorithm) we offer a management program including both medication (overseen by physician providers), as well as devices such as the Neuromonics tinnitus masker (overseen by Audiologists). Physical therapists administer treatments for BPPV as well as other types of dizziness ameniable to rehabilitation, such as bilateral vestibular loss. They also provide some unusual types of physical therapy including treatment for motion sickness, use of the "wii-fit" for balance training, and tilt-traning for orthostatic hypotension.
Vestibular rehabilitation -- physical therapy for dizziness, is a very important part of our practice. We have two outstanding and experienced physical therapists. If you mainly need vestibular rehabilitation, especially just a few visits for treatment of BPPV, you can schedule directly with them, although Dr. Hain will see you briefly too to supervise the process. reception@dizziness-and-balance.com can set this up. If you need a long course of physical therapy, we recommend that you find a place close to where you live. In this situation, our physical therapists may be appropriate as consultants. | ||||||||||||
